Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a highly effective method of manual exfoliation and temporary hair removal with a surgical blade. This treatment gently removes any accumulation of the outermost layers of dead skin cells and facial hair, leaving your skin immediately smooth and vibrant. This non-traumatic and highly effective method of skin rejuvenation treats sun-damaged skin, fine lines, acne scars, pore size, uneven skin tone, and enhances the results of microdermabrasion and chemical peels. This procedure assists the skin’s natural exfoliation process by removing about 2-3 weeks’ worth of dead skin cells and can be received every 3-4 weeks. Skin feels baby soft!

Frequently asked questions about Dermaplaning

1What is Select Dermaplaning?
Select Dermaplaning is performed by our trained aestheticians. This Dermaplaning treatment is a simple and safe procedure for selectively removing the outer most layers of dead skin cells leaving the skin immediately smooth, supple and vibrant and stimulating a production of new collagen and refreshed skin cells. In addition to exfoliating the skin, it removes the fine vellus hair (peach fuzz). Some confuse dermaplaning with dermabrasion, a medical procedure performed by a doctor in which the skin is abraded down to the dermis.
2How is dermaplaning performed?
Our aestheticians will use a surgical blade and a delicate touch to effectively abrade the surface of the skin using light feathering strokes.
3Who is a candidate for dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is beneficial for patients with rough, dry skin; superficial hyper pigmentation; mild acne scarring and those with fine lines and wrinkles. Removing the epidermal skin also allows products to penetrate more readily into the deeper layers.
4Are there alrternative treatments to Dermaplaning?
The primary alternative to dermaplaning is microdermabrasion. Like dermaplaning, microdermabrasion has long been one of the top non-surgical treatments for facial skin rejuvenation. And while they both aim to achieve similar goals, the treatment mechanism and the effects can be slightly different. Instead of using a surgical blade, our medical grade microdermabrasion exfoliates the surface skin with pressurized abrasive diamonds and suction. The suction nature of microdermabrasion is not recommended for people who have Rosacea or prone to broken capillaries.
