1What are Growth Factor Serums?
A growth factor is a naturally occurring substance capable of stimulating cellular growth, proliferation, healing, and cellular differentiation. Growth Factor Serums are derived from human bone marrow stem cells. These stem cells have been shown to secrete growth factors and cytokines that modulate inflammation. Growth Factor Serums are designed to stimulate your body’s stem cells to improve cellular communication during the skin rejuvenation cascade that occurs in the weeks after your CIT treatment.
2What is Platelet-Rich Plasma?
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) refers to specific components of your blood, the platelets, and serum. Platelets are critical for healing processes and as such have been recognized for their ability to secrete growth factors and stimulators. PRP has been used for many years in the treatment of injuries to the musculoskeletal system; however, in more recent years, it has been incorporated into aesthetic practices as a tool to stimulate cell growth, including hair follicles and collagen deposition. 3What will Collagen Induction Therapy improve the appearance of?
Fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, stretch marks, hair loss, and rosacea/dermatitis.
4How long should I wait in between treatments?
Treatments should be performed once every 4 weeks. A series of 6 treatments is recommended.
5Does it hurt?
Most clients experience very little discomfort, and can opt for a topical anesthetic if they wish. After your treatment, your face may feel like you have a mild sunburn for the next few hours.
6How long is the down time?
Recovery consists of 4-12 hours of mild redness and swelling. For deeper treatments, recovery could stretch out to a few days for all pinpoint scabbing to disappear. Skincare products and makeup can be applied after a minimum of 2 hours after treatment. There are a wide range of normal reactions. Anything from little to no reaction, to a deep red flush, to pinpoint bleeding is normal. As this is a non-ablative procedure, more extreme reactions do not necessarily mean better results.
7Is Collagen Induction Therapy safe?
Collagen Induction Therapy is safe for all skin types in any season! It will improve virtually every skin imperfection we address in aesthetic practice including fine lines, wrinkles, thinning skin, dry or oily skin, sensitive skin, rosacea, acne, acne scarring, pigmentary irregularities, laxity, uneven texture and dull skin tone.
8How long before I can expect to see results?
You can sometimes see results from a single treatment very quickly. Skin plumping from the hyaluronic acid in the MicroChannel Delivery Serum is noticeable almost immediately, and for the few days following the treatment. You can begin seeing neo-collagenesis (new skin formation) as soon as two weeks after a procedure. Long term clinical improvement will continue through a series of treatments.
9Are there any contraindications?
Very few. They include compromised immune system, chemotherapy, open lesions or pustules, pregnant or nursing. It is best to stop the use of retinols at least a day before treatment.
10Can I combine this with other treatments?
Typically combining treatments will result in more aggressive treatments and longer downtime, but can yield impressive results. Some treatments such as a light microdermabrasion or light chemical peel can be performed right before Collagen Induction Therapy, as long as the face is cleaned before starting the Collagen Induction Therapy treatment. Light therapy treatments are typically the only treatments recommended post-needling.
11Do I have to use the serums?
Collagen Induction Therapy stimulates keratinocytes in the skin to release growth factors that induce collagenesis. As you get older, these keratinocytes become less and less effective at this so the treatment on its own becomes less and less effective. Because of this, the Collagen Induction Therapy solutions become more and more imperative as a client progresses in age. Using the aftercare serums as well will cause the skin to continue producing growth factors even while in between treatments. Think of diet and exercise – Collagen Induction Therapy without serums is like exercising without dieting. Results will be good with Collagen Induction Therapy only, great with serums.
